Saint Francis University has become Hong Kong's second university of applied sciences, after its application was approved by the Education Bureau in collaboration with the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
Previously known as Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Saint Francis applied for this status after receiving its private university accreditation in January.
The news was announced by Secretary for Education Christine Choi Yuk-lin at a LegCo panel meeting on Friday.
She said the university has been approved by the Council - having met the criteria for becoming the city’s second university of applied sciences.
She also noted that the Alliance of Universities in Applied Sciences will be established this month.
