The 47-year-old woman's abduction on Monday is revealed to have been caused by borrowing money from the perpetrators.
The woman - surnamed Lui - was found in a private car located opposite Heng Yuet House, Heng On Estate in Ma On Shan, after being kidnapped by two men yesterday (May 6).
She fortunately did not suffer any injuries, and the culprits were arrested for false imprisonment, driving without a license, and arson.
An in-depth investigation by the police revealed that the victim had previously borrowed HK$100,000 from the kidnappers, which led to her later imprisonment.
It is believed that she was held in a public housing unit in Tsing Yi in order to talk about how to handle the loan issue before later being released by the kidnappers.
It was also later revealed that six hours before the kidnapping occurred, one of the arrested men had attempted to use a candle to set fire to Lui's house but had to flee the scene after being found by the security guard.
