Three hospitalized as dashcam captures moment van rams into broken down truck

Three people were sent to hospital after a traffic accident on Tuen Mun Road as a dashcam video captured the moment a van failed to brake in time and rammed right into a broken down truck. 

The incident occurred around 2 pm on Monday near Ka Loong Tsuen when the van was traveling towards Kowloon. 

A truck had broken down in the middle of the road and the van driver failed to steer around it until it was too late, crashing the van into the rear of the truck with the impact so great, it pushed it into the adjacent lane. 

As seen in the video, the front of the van was severely damaged. The driver Cheung, 41, a nine-year-old boy, and a 39-year-old female passenger Lee were trapped inside the van. 

They later got out of the van with the assistance of other drivers who stopped to offer help. 

The trio only sustained minor injuries and were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital. 

The 51-year-old trucker surnamed Lam sustained no injuries.
