All 15 people remain safe and sound as they were rescued after they went hiking in Sai Kung on Saturday morning despite the Red Rainstorm and Thunderstorm warnings in force.
Police received two requests for help around 11 am from two groups of hikers.
The first group involved 11 mainland tourists hiking around the High Island Reservoir East Dam, including four adults and seven children aged eight to 11.
They filed the report around 11.26 am, saying that they were stranded due to the strong rainstorm and the children, soaked to the skin, had to seek shelter in a public toilet.
The second group involved four hikers at section 2 of the MacLehose Trail. They filed the report at 11.25 am and said they started hiking yesterday (Fri) and spent the night on a hill.
They remained unharmed but couldn’t retreat also due to the stormy rain, thus filing the report.
Rescuers later came and helped the two groups get down hill. All remained safe and sound.
