Lam Tin bus captain collapses in driver's seat and dies

A bus captain collapsed in the driver's seat of a double-decker bus in Lam Tin on Thursday afternoon. He was rushed to hospital but was eventually pronounced dead. 

Police received the report around 3 pm today (Thu) by a member of staff working at the Lam Tin (Kwong Tin Estate) Bus Terminus, saying that a bus captain had fallen unconscious in the driver's seat of a Mong Kok-bound route 16 bus. 

The bus captain was rushed to United Christian Hospital but was eventually pronounced dead. 

Police are now investigating the cause of the incident. 

KMB said it was saddened by the death of the bus captain and has sent staff to the hospital to express their condolences and to provide necessary assistance to the family. 

KMB said the bus captain was surnamed Kwong and joined the company back in January. He had just begun his work shift when the incident occurred.

His last rest days were November 2 and 3 and his next rest day was this Friday.
