MTR provides free rides on Heavy Rail for children on National Day

MTR will provide free travels for kids on October 1 with children using Child Octopus enjoying free trips on the heavy rail to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic China. 

Light Rail and MTR Bus running in the Northwest New Territories will be free for all passengers on that day and passengers do not need to tap their Octopus at Light Rail stops or when boarding MTR Bus. 

Seven rail lines – Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line, South Island Line, Tung Chung Line, East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line – will run more frequent train trips during different periods to facilitate the public to be out to celebrate the National Day and watch the fireworks display. 

The free rides for children with Children Octopus do not apply to Airport Express, High Speed Rail, East Rail Line First Class and MTR Feeder Bus running in Tai Po District. 

MTR Feeder Bus running in Tai Po District is excluded from the MTR Bus free rides, and the interchange discount for Light Rail and MTR Bus is not applicable on that day.
