Citybus says new recruits could earn up to HK$30,000 a month on average with latest bonuses

A new Citybus bus captain could earn an average monthly salary of up to HK$30,000 with the time-limited Autumn Festival special “New Join Bonus” of HK$18,000 and the bus driving license bonus of HK$10,000. 

The special new join bonus, which marks a 50 percent jump from the original HK$12,000, applies to any new recruits who successfully completes the interview and recruitment process from Monday (Sep 25) to the end of October. 

Applicants who already possess a valid bus driving license will also be eligible to receive an additional bonus of HK$10,000 – a double compared to the previous package. 

Any full-time bus captain can receive a HK$5,000 referral bonus for each successful new bus captain recommendation as well. 

The latest arrangements came following Citybus’ announcement of a 4.3 percent pay hike earlier this month. 

“This new recruitment arrangement is designed to coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival and ‘Night Vibes Hong Kong’ campaign and enhance the bus captain recruitment pipeline from now until the end of October,” Citybus said in a statement released on Tuesday. 

“Therefore, a typical new join full-time Bus Captain working an average of 10 hours per day, with the new join bonus and bus driving license bonus, would receive an average monthly salary of up to HK$30,000.” 

Marcus Fu Man-ching, the bus giant’s talent and resourcing manager, said the new referral bonus aims at encouraging colleagues to recommend their relatives and friends to join the Citybus family and make a career in the bus industry. 

Citybus believes that Shap Sze Heung will be a key part of their future network and said they will work closely with colleagues to grow their services. 

Citybus earlier won the tender for the operation of five new franchised bus routes in the Shap Sze Heung New Development Area, which will operate to Ma On Shan, Kowloon and Shatin.
