Hong Kong reports a record 26,026 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases on Sunday – the first time for the number to surpass 20,000, and a significant increase from Saturday's 17,063.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of 83 people died, aged between 19 and 100. Ninety percent of them were aged 65 or above.
The 19-year-old suffered from chronic illness and lived in a care home for the disabled.
Another younger patient aged 46 suffered from cancer and had to accept chemotherapy, and had compromised immunity.
Among the fatality, 67 lived in care homes. Thirteen got one or more vaccine jabs, including one who received three jabs.
Due to delays in test results, Hospital Authority has now confirmed 27 more deaths between last Wednesday and Friday were related to Covid-19. They were aged between 68 and 104.
An additional 66 elderly or disabled homes were hit by infections, with a total of 530 people testing positive.
So far more than 800 staffers at those homes and 2,450 residents have been infected.
Thirty patients were believed to have caught the coronavirus during their hospitalization at public hospitals. An accumulative 2,766 Hospital Authority staffers were infected.
The authority called upon those who tested positive on rapid tests to consider themselves infected. They are urged to stay home.
Since the fifth wave broke out, a total of 158,683 people got infected.
