Health authorities reported 115 confirmed Covid-19 cases on Friday and warned that an Omicron outbreak has occurred in two schools in the city, reflecting the high transmissibility of the variant.

Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre for Health Protection also reported about 80 preliminary positive cases. Among the confirmed cases, 111 were local, and six were unknown source cases.
Yat Kwai House saw one more patient on Friday, pushing the infection tally of the building to 263, involving 133 units. Residents there were finally released this morning after a seven-day lockdown.
The nearby Ying Kwai House and Ha Kwai House didn't report any new cases. So far, at Kwai Chung Estate, 396 cases have been reported from 206 residential units.
Dr. Chuang said the Omicron outbreak has reached schools in the city, including HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No.3 Secondary School in Tseung Kwan O. A student from class 5C who lives in Ha Kwai House at Kwai Chung Estate tested positive.
Four students from class 3B tested positive, while another tested preliminary positive. A case was also detected among the secondary one.
On the other hand, Dr. Chuang reported five cases at classes 5C and 6C of CNEC Lee I Yao Memorial Secondary School in Kwai Chung and believed some of the students live in Yat Kwai House.
Meanwhile, the construction site on Victory Road in Ho Man Tin saw 14 confirmed cases involving both workers and their close contacts.
As for the unknown source cases, one of them is a 38-year-old man who lives in Tin Shui Wai. He last went to work at Murray Food and Beverage Ltd on Tuesday (Jan 25). Another patient is a 39-year-old man who lives in Tsui Wo House (Block 5) at Tai Wo Estate in Tai Po. He is a delivery person for the Tai Po outlet of HK Jebn Ltd and last went to work on Tuesday.
A 70-year-old retired woman living in Ching Tai House, Tsz Ching Estate in Tsz Wan Shan carried the Delta variant and visited Choi Wan Commercial Complex. A 65-year-old woman was among the unknown source cases. She lives in Kwai Fong Estate and plays badminton with friends in Kwai Chung Park.
The last two untraceable cases involved a 42-year-old man and a 10-year-old girl. The man lives in Fu Ping House at Tai Wo Hau Estate and is a logistics worker. His whereabouts concentrated within the estate. As for the girl, she is a student at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Tsuen Wan, and she last went to school on January 11.
The center also found two other confirmed cases had visited Hakka Cuisine in Lions Rise Mall in Wong Tai Sin. The two visited there the same morning last Wednesday (Jan 19), as the infected elderly couple reported earlier. The other dined there again last Friday (Jan 21).
