Hong Kong reports 20 preliminary and three imported Covid-19 cases

Authorities reported that 20 preliminary Covid-19 cases are being looked into – the first time in nearly two months that Hong Kong sees a double-digit number for such cases.

Qatar Airways' flights from Doha will be banned until September 9 due to a previous case.

The Centre for Health Protection also announced three new imported cases today, involving three men aged between 34 and 47 who arrived from Nepal, Greece and Pakistan respectively.

All of the three have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines in Hong Kong but were tested positive for the L452R variant, bringing the total number of cases in Hong Kong to 12,078.

A 38-year-old man who arrived from Nepal on August 24 has received two doses of BioNTech vaccines in Hong Kong on May 12 and June 2.

Another 47-year-old man arrived from Greece on the 24th of this month, also having received two doses of BioNTech vaccines in Hong Kong on March 22 and April 12 and being tested for antibodies on July 14.

The remaining one was a 34-year-old man who arrived from Pakistan on August 22 and was quarantined at Dorsett Tsuen Wan Hotel Hong Kong.

He has received two doses of Sinovac vaccines on April 10 and May 8 in Hong Kong.

The Department of Health has imposed a ban on Qatar Airways operated flight QR818 from Doha, Qatar, to Hong Kong from tomorrow, as one of the passengers was diagnosed upon arrival on Tuesday.

In addition, two passengers failed to meet the conditions specified in the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations.

The flight will be banned from landing in Hong Kong until September 9.
