HK’s Doo Hoi-kem advances to table tennis round of 16

Hong Kong’s top female table tennis player Doo Hoi-kem beats South Korea’s Shin Yubin in the third round of women’s singles on Tuesday and advances to the round of 16 at the Tokyo Olympics.

After taking an early 2-0 game lead, the South Korean tried to make a comeback and clawed back two games to tie 2-2 with Doo.

However, 24-year-old Doo rebounded and dominated Game 5 and Game 6, winning 11-4 and 11-6 respectively, advancing to the round of 16 winning 4-2.

Doo’s round of 16 games will be at 6.30pm tonight. She will be facing Netherland’s Britt Eerland. -Photo: Reuters
