American School Hong Kong (ASHK) marks a significant milestone this year as it celebrates a decade of academic excellence. Established in 2016, ASHK offers a seamless educational journey from KG to Grade 12, providing a comprehensive through-train program for its students.
Rigorous & Engaging Curriculum
ASHK prides itself on offering a dynamic and challenging curriculum that combines the best of both the American educational system and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Through an inquiry-based approach and a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), students are encouraged to think critically and creatively.
An exemplar of this approach was seen in a recent project undertaken by Grade 1 students. Through an inquiry-based, hands-on exploration, these young learners delved into different animal habitats, including the savannah, rainforest, and ocean. Students led their own inquiries, research, and compared different ecosystems, honing their critical thinking skills and deepening their understanding of how animals adapt to their surroundings. By integrating multiple disciplines, they developed a deeper, concept-driven understanding of ecosystems and biodiversity.
Inspiring Younger Students and Fostering Community Spirit
One of ASHK’s cherished traditions is the Grad Walk, a heartwarming event where graduating seniors wear their caps and gowns and parade through the school. This symbolic gesture not only inspires younger students but also serves as a farewell to our 12th grade.
The graduating Class of 2025 is a source of pride for ASHK, having received offers from esteemed institutions such as Juilliard School, Pennsylvania State University, Berklee College of Music, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, King’s College London, University College London, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of Hong Kong, and many more. These students exemplify the spirit of excellence and achievement that ASHK nurtures in its community.
