HK handball team gets training boost at Kai Tak after historic run

Hong Kong's men's handball team has secured a training facility upgrade at Kai Tak Sports Park, including the addition of handball court lines, following its historic semifinal run at the National Games.

The Hong Kong China Handball Association confirmed the enhancements on Sunday. The plan, developed with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and Kai Tak Sports Park, involves marking out courts on hard-surface areas and arranging preferential rental rates for practice spaces.

In a further boost, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will increase the team's reserved training hours at indoor courts in Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre and Siu Lun Sports Centre from January 2026. The department is also exploring access to additional sports centers for team training.

The association expressed gratitude to government departments and stakeholders, stating these measures are expected to effectively address the team's chronic venue shortages.
