The world number five won 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 10-12, 14-12, 11-2 in a 52-minute final, dropping to his knees in celebration after securing victory on his fourth appearance in the tournament's championship match.
Harimoto had battled through a grueling seven-game semifinal earlier in the day against China's world number two Lin Shidong. Moregard advanced after his semifinal opponent Wang Chuqin withdrew injured.
The 22-year-old Japanese star had previously finished as runner-up in 2021, 2022 and 2024. He had stated before the event: "Coming second before was good, but to be 'satisfied' only with the championship. This time in Hong Kong I must take the title down."
Moregard received a yellow card during the final for kicking a ball after a lost point.
