A taxi became stuck sideways in a narrow alley in Central on Monday morning (Aug 24), with the driver seen struggling to free the vehicle.
A video circulating online showed the taxi wedged between two stone walls at the junction of Peel Street and Rednaxela Terrace. The driver appeared to be trying to turn around in the narrow passage but ended up getting the taxi stuck across the alley.
The driver was seen repeatedly stepping on the accelerator and turning the steering wheel, but the taxi could only move slightly forward or backward. Its rear was also scratched.
The person filming the incident called for experienced drivers to help, saying the driver had already been trying to free the taxi for nearly 20 minutes when the video was filmed.
The video ended without showing how the taxi was eventually removed.
The incident sparked discussion online, with some users saying the driver should have reversed out of the alley, while others questioned how the taxi managed to enter the narrow passage in the first place.
A cleaner was also seen clearing debris left by the taxi.
