Richard Li wades into disaster with $20m

Richard Li Tzar-kai has donated HK$20 million under his own name to support people affected by the deadly downpours, flooding and landslips in the Jingjinji Metropolitan Region including Beijing and Hebei province.

Li gave the money to the China Charity Federation through the Liaison Office in Hong Kong. The office in turn praised him for showing compassion to mainlanders.

As a businessman in Hong Kong Li said he had to help compatriots, and he called on other SAR citizens to respond to the disastrous situation so people there can resume normal lives as soon as possible.

The New People's Party and the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions made donations earlier.
