(Video) Power bank emits smoke on MTR train at Quarry Bay station, passengers flee in alarm

A passenger's portable charger emitted smoke on an Island Line train near Quarry Bay station on Sunday evening, causing passengers to move away.

Firefighters responded to the report around 9pm but the power bank had stopped smoking by the time they arrived. No one was injured and no evacuation was needed.

A passenger on board said the incident occurred near Tai Koo station, with smoke filling the carriage and passengers covering their noses and moving in the opposite direction. When the train arrived at Quarry Bay, MTR staff assisted and moved the power bank to the platform.
