A fire broke out at Fengshan Temple in Tuen Mun on Sunday night, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky and triggering an explosion sound, but no one was injured.
Authorities received reports around 10pm of a building fire in the Wo Tin Estate area. Firefighters arrived to find the temple ablaze and quickly deployed jets to extinguish the flames. No evacuation was required.
Preliminary investigation suggests the fire was caused by burning paper. Online images showed fierce flames and a large plume of smoke rising from the temple during the incident.
