Police arrested two individuals in connection with a cocaine operation valued at over HK$80 million.
The suspects, a male and female, both unemployed and believed to be in a relationship, were apprehended during a raid at a village house in Yuen Long on Tuesday (Dec 30).
Officers seized a total of 10 bricks of suspected cocaine, each weighing one kilogram, along with 150 grams of crack cocaine. Further investigation led to the discovery of 97 additional bricks of cocaine in a nearby tin-roofed shack.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects had been recruited to act as warehouse keepers and delivery personnel for the drug syndicate. The operation had been deliberately set up in remote locations to avoid detection, using the village house and the tin-roofed shack as cover.
The arrestees face charges of drug trafficking and will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts on Friday (Jan 2).
