A driver was arrested after police seized over 200 kilograms of suspected cocaine valued at HK$140 million in his van in Sai Kung.
Officers from the Narcotics Bureau intercepted the van at Kau Sai San Tsuen on Wednesday (Oct 1) morning, seizing 200 cocaine bricks -- each weighing about one kilogram -- in the trunk.
The cocaine was concealed in multiple layers of tape and nylon bags to disguise it as ordinary goods.
The driver, surnamed Kwok, was arrested at the spot. He is believed to have been incentivized financially to assist a drug trafficking syndicate in transporting a large batch of suspected cocaine for the local market.
