Police subdued a man waving a metal sheet in the middle of a road in Fanling's Kwan Tei area on Sunday night, with the incident recorded by a passing driver.
The footage shows several officers confronting the man, described as about 40 years old and wearing a red top, at the Kwan Tei roundabout. Multiple officers eventually pinned him to the ground.
A social media user who posted the video said they saw the man alone on the roundabout holding a hammer and metal sheet before police arrived. Another commenter heard someone say "assaulting police."
Police said they received a report at 9.54pm that the man was waving the sheet and shouting on Lung Ma Road near the roundabout in Kwan Tei. Officers subdued him and sent him to North District Hospital for examination. No one was injured or arrested. The case was classified as "finding a suspected mentally disordered person."
