2 trucks set on fire in Fanling outdoor car park, police hunting two men

Two medium goods vehicles were set on fire in an outdoor car park in Fanling on Saturday evening, with police treating the incident as arson and hunting for two men believed to be responsible, authorities said.

Police received a report from a passer-by around 6pm that the two trucks were on fire at a car park on Lung Yeuk Tau section of Sha Tau Kok Road. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported and no evacuation was required.

Preliminary fire services investigations suggest the cause of the fire is suspicious. Investigations revealed that two men entered the car park during the incident and are suspected of throwing flammable materials at the vehicles before fleeing.

The case has been classified as arson and is being handled by the Tai Po district criminal investigation team. No arrests have been made.
