An off-duty policeman was arrested after a Porsche crashed into a railing and onto a footpath in Yuen Long on Saturday afternoon, seriously injuring two pedestrians.
The white Porsche was traveling along On Lok Road toward Tai Kiu Road around 2.45pm when it lost control at the junction, hitting the railings and mounting the pavement. A 70-year-old man surnamed Chan and his 34-year-old son were struck.
The elderly man suffered a head injury and was unconscious, while his son had abrasions on his hand and left knee. Both were taken to Tuen Mun Hospital, with the father in critical condition after emergency treatment.
Police arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm. They later confirmed the detainee is an off-duty officer, stressing the force does not tolerate illegal acts by any member and will deal with them seriously.
The case is being investigated by the New Territories North regional traffic unit.
