Tai Po road reopens after Wang Fuk Count fire, bus routes resume

A section of Tai Po Road – Yuen Chau Tsai previously closed due to Wang Fuk Count fire has been reopened, the Transport Department announced early Monday.

The affected stretch between Nam Wan Road and Kwong Wang Street in the Kowloon-bound direction has been cleared, allowing 37 franchised bus routes to resume normal service.

Most bus routes in Tai Po have returned to their original itineraries and will use major roads to reach Sha Tin and urban areas, restoring normal travel for residents, a department spokesperson said.

Seven daytime bus routes remain diverted due to the continued closure of Kwong Wang Street and Yuen Chau Tsai Lane in both directions. These mainly affect services operating near Wang Fuk Court.

The department expects traffic on Tai Po Road, Tolo Highway and roads in Tai Po town centre to remain relatively busy during peak hours. Motorists are advised to avoid the affected area, plan trips ahead and allow extra travel time.

The bus routes still operating on diversion are:

KMB routes 71K (both directions), 73D, 73P, 73X, 75X and 275X (towards Kowloon)
MTR bus route K18 (both directions)
