A Scoot flight from Hong Kong to Singapore faced a critical situation last Saturday (Nov 22) when a rechargeable battery belonging to a passenger overheated, causing alarm among those onboard.
The crew on the flight TR 939 acted swiftly, safely landing the aircraft at Changi Airport at 9.06pm local time, with no injuries reported.
Passengers recounted their terrifying experience on Xiaohongshu, describing a strong burning smell during the incident. In response to the fire risk, flight attendants utilized fire extinguishers and water to extinguish flames that had erupted in the cabin.
Upon landing, firefighters and paramedics arranged for passengers to disembark. Eyewitnesses noted burn damage on the cabin walls, which were scorched black.
The budget airline apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized that passenger and crew safety is their top priority.
