Mercury to dip to 14 degrees on Wed: Observatory

A cold front will move across the Guangdong coast around midnight tonight and bring cooler weather to Hong Kong, with urban areas seeing a minimum of about 14 degrees on Wednesday (Nov 19) and Thursday (Nov 20).

The Observatory said it will become appreciably cooler on Tuesday (Nov 18), and it will be cold over parts of the New Territories. 

Due to the influence of the strong northeast monsoon, the wind chill effect will be more pronounced. The public is advised to be aware of the change in weather, keep warm and take care of the elderly and persons with chronic medical conditions.

The Senior Citizen Home Safety Association also reminds residents, especially the elderly and those with chronic conditions, to prepare for winter such as wearing warm clothing and, if necessary, using a safety alert system.
