Over 200 households in Repulse Bay were affected by a power outage following a high-voltage cable accident on Tuesday afternoon.
HK Electric reported that the incident occurred around 2.35pm, when an 11kV high-voltage cable was accidentally damaged by third-party construction work, impacting several substations along Repulse Bay Road.
The power company assured that repair crews and mobile generator vehicles have been deployed to restore power as quickly as possible.
The company is currently investigating the cause of the incident and has issued an apology to the affected customers.
According to sources, the construction site on Repulse Bay Road, where maintenance work was underway, reportedly experienced an incident where workers accidentally damaged a high-voltage cable while drilling, affecting a substation and causing a power outage at 19, 21, and 23 Repulse Bay Road.
Hong Kong Electric later deployed a mobile generator to the scene, and power has been restored to some units.
