A 61-year-old director of a drinking water supply company has been charged with fraud, while his 57-year-old wife and business partner was released on bail, police confirmed on Tuesday morning.
The couple, identified as Lui Tze-chung and Chan Pik-lam , were arrested on Saturday (August 17) for allegedly using falsified documents to secure a HK$52.94 million government contract to supply bottled water under the brand "Xin Le Guan Yin Shan" to offices in Hong Kong Island and outlying islands.
Lui, the director of Xin Ding Xin Trade Company, was formally charged with one count of fraud and is set to appear at Eastern Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning. Chan, the company's shareholder, was released on bail and must report back to police in mid-September.
