As the No. 8 Storm Signal took effect at 4.10pm, public transportation services are expected to resume limited operation.
Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) has announced that routes B1 and B9, along with Long Win Bus routes S1 and S64, will resume limited service starting at 5pm. However, other daytime routes will remain suspended until further notice.
Citybus has also resumed a limited level of services on Route S1, while Route B7(trips between Fanling Station and Heung Yuen Wai port) is expected to resume around 5 pm, with all other daytime routes remaining suspended.
Additionally, the MTR Corporation indicated that rail services on open sections will gradually resume by the evening.
It is anticipated that approximately 2 to 3 hours will be required for cleaning and inspection work before services can resume on the East Rail Line, Tuen Ma Line, and Airport Express, all of which have outdoor sections.
Outdoor train services include routes from Lai King to Tsuen Wan, Choi Hung to Tiu Keng Leng, Heng Fa Chuen to Chai Wan, Admiralty to Lei Tung, Kowloon to Tung Chung, Hung Hom to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau, Tuen Mun to Tsuen Wan West, East Tsim Sha Tsui to Ho Man Tin, and Diamond Hill to Wu Kai Sha, are currently undergoing inspections.
As for point-to-point transport services, some online ride-hailing platforms, including Uber and Fly Taxi, are still providing limited services and bookings as of 1 pm.
A trip from the University of Hong Kong to the airport is estimated to cost over HK$300 on Uber, HK$400 on Fly Taxi, which includes a default tip of HK$60 to encourage drivers to accept orders during the hurricane signal.
