Organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Best Corporate Governance and ESG Awards 2025 (the Awards) are open for applications until 24 July, 2025. The Awards recognize listed companies and public sector/not-for-profit organizations (PSOs) for their excellence in corporate governance (CG) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices and reporting, encouraging the integration of these principles into their values, strategies, and operations.
Edward Au, President of the HKICPA and Chair of the Judging Panel of the Awards, said, “For the past 25 years, our Awards have set objective and authoritative benchmarks for good governance performance in both the private and public sectors in Hong Kong and, since 2011, for ESG as well. We continue to encourage companies and PSOs to participate in the Awards and to demonstrate their leadership as sustainable and resilient organizations that have a positive impact on both the economy and the community.”
While applications continue to be free of charge, AI is being adopted for the first time to support the initial screening of entries. Thereafter, applicants shortlisted will be evaluated by a panel of experienced professionals including representatives from the government, regulators and professional and industry bodies. The awardees will be celebrated at a presentation ceremony in October 2025.
New for the 25th anniversary, the Awards will introduce an “Elite Past Winners” category to evaluate multiple-time listed company awardees separately, while encouraging potential new winners to emerge in other categories. In the same vein, the HKICPA will also review Main Board companies listed between 2022 and 2025 to identify exemplary CG and ESG practices among recent listings.
