The Hong Kong Fire Services Department (FSD) recently wrapped up a successful two-day fire and ambulance career experience event at Lai Chi Kok Fire Station as part of its FAST Connect program.
The initiative brought together a diverse group of local and ethnic minority secondary school students for comprehensive emergency response training and cultural exchange.
During the immersive camp, participants gained firsthand experience in critical lifesaving skills including firefighting techniques, CPR administration, and automated external defibrillator (AED) operation.
Students also took part in specialized training scenarios such as high-angle rescue simulations while engaging in team-building exercises designed to foster cooperation across cultural and linguistic differences.
The program placed particular emphasis on instilling what emergency professionals call the "Three Basic Skills on Emergency Preparedness"—“Extinguish and Prevent Fire”, “Self-help and Help Others” and “Escape and Evacuate."
Alongside practical emergency training, the curriculum incorporated elements of national education and discipline development.
