A 45-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday morning after injuring a security guard at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) campus.
The incident occurred shortly before 10am today. when the woman entered the university grounds and approached the "3M Bridge," which connects the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building to the shopping mall pedestrian tunnel.
She claimed to be searching for her husband, who reportedly works as a security guard at the location.
After failing to locate him, the woman left briefly to purchase a 20-centimeter ceramic knife from a nearby supermarket before returning to the scene.
When a 52-year-old security guard surnamed Tse informed her that her husband was not present, she allegedly became agitated and pointed the knife at his chest, leaving a 4-centimeter red mark.
Other security personnel quickly intervened, subduing the woman and escorting her to a reading room to calm down while police were called.
Officers arrived shortly after and arrested the 45-year-old suspect, surnamed Pui, on suspicion of attempted wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.
The injured guard was transported by ambulance to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident.
