Yu Chun-hing, 35, a former police officer from the narcotics bureau, pleaded guilty to eight counts of indecent assault and having unlawful sexual intercourse.
He met a few girls aged from 11 to 14 through social media between 2017 and 2018. He indecently assaulted those girls and demanded them to sent him naked pictures.
He was arrested, but he committed another crime again when he was released on bail.
Yu was originally sentenced to get 46 months in jail. Yet the judiciary filed a review of sentence to the High Court.
Three judges – Andrew Macrae, Derek Pang Wai-cheong and Kevin Zervos, found the original sentence too lenient. They also referred the report by the psychiatrist and added that he is very likely to commit similar crime in the future.
The three judges therefore sentenced Yu to five-year imprisonment.
