More than 20 countries call for China to reconsider the imposition of national security law legislation, while another 53 countries voiced support for the law at the UN Human Rights Council.

UK ambassador Julian Braithwaite delivered a joint statement on behalf of 27 counties on the 44th of the UN Human Rights Council.
The statement was supported by countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
"We urge the Chinese and Hong Kong Governments to reconsider the imposition of this legislation," Braithewaite said.
"And to engage Hong Kong's people, institutions, and judiciary to prevent further erosion of the rights and freedoms that the people of Hong Kong have enjoyed for many years." He added.
Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of the Philippines said Cuba ambassador represented 53 countries -- including Cuba, Egypt, and Venezuela -- to support the new legislation on the 44th UN Human Rights Council.
Several countries have proposed escape plans for Hongkongers. US lawmakers tabled a Hong Kong Safe Harbor Act today, which would facilitate Hongkongers to get refugee status.
US Secretary of State, Michael R. Pompeo, said the national security law is "draconian" which "destroys the territory's autonomy and one of China's greatest achievements."
Pompeo said the US Government would impose visa restrictions on CCP officials responsible for "undermining Hong Kong's autonomy" and eliminating policy exemptions that give Hong Kong special treatment, with few exceptions.
On the same day, Taiwan opened the Taiwan-Hong Kong Services and Exchanges Office to aid Hongkongers who wish to study, conduct business, invest, or seek asylum in Taiwan.
