SmarTone Telecommunications (0315) reported 8 percent year-on-year growth in interim net profit to HK$278 million for the six months ended December 2025, as the company continued to expand its 5G network and enhance artificial intelligence applications internally.
The company will distribute an interim dividend of 14.5 HK cents.
Its revenue increased by 2 percent year-on-year to HK$3.56 billion, driven by a 12 percent year-on-year growth in 5G Home Broadband products, a 7 percent year-on-year rise in consumer outbound data roaming revenue, and a 3 percent increase in local service revenue compared to the second half of 2025.
Fiona Lau Yeuk-hung, executive director and chief executive officer at Smartone, said increased AI adoption has saved the company 6 percent of its operating costs year-on-year by HK$52 million, adding that it will further leverage AI to streamline platforms, boost operational efficiency, and improve customer service.
Looking ahead, the company sees new talent and immigrants to Hong Kong as important pillars of growth, with plans to focus its investments on the Greater Bay Area development projects and collaborate with the Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016).
