The new policy applies exclusively to passengers on connecting flights who do not leave the airport’s transit area.
All other visa requirements for Nepalese nationals wishing to enter the city remain unchanged.
A government spokesperson described the relaxation as a practical step to support Nepal, a Belt and Road partner country, by simplifying travel and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a leading global aviation hub.
The measure is expected to encourage more seamless connections for travelers from the Himalayan nation while maintaining existing immigration controls for longer stays.
