Hang Seng Index rebounds by noon on Wednesday, Alibaba rises

Hong Kong stocks rose by noon on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed by 174 points, or  0.7 percent to 25,685 at noon.

The half-day market turnover was HK$139.9 billion. 

The Hang Seng Tech Index was up by 1.6 percent to 4,660 points at noon. 

Shares of Alibaba (9988) rebounded 1.5 percent after sinking nearly 9 percent on Monday.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was up by 0.7 percent to 3,916 points and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index went up by 1.2 percent to 13,911 points at the midday close.
