Paul Chan meets Oman official to discuss cooperations

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po met with the official from Oman as he began his trip to Davos for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting on Monday.

Chan exchanged views with the minister of economy of the Sultanate of Oman, Said Mohammed Al-Saqri, discussed ways to deepen cooperation in areas including finance, trade, and green transformation.

He expressed his support for the stock exchanges and regulatory authorities of both sides to explore reciprocal cooperation, including the potential of dual or secondary listings.

While Oman is actively strengthening its economic and investment ties with China, Chan also highlighted Hong Kong's role as a "super connector" to support this process.

Chan noted that Hong Kong can facilitate investments from both mainland and Hong Kong enterprises into Oman, supporting the country's infrastructure and industrial development. Besides, leveraging its status as an international financial centre, Hong Kong can assist Omani enterprises in fundraising and financing.
