Ex-Alibaba chair Zhang Yong appointed to HKEX’s Mainland China Advisory Group

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388) announced the appointment of Daniel Zhang Yong, managing partner of Firstlight Capital and former chairman of Alibaba (9988), as a member of its mainland China Advisory Group.

HKEX chairman Carlson Tong Ka-shing expressed enthusiasm for Zhang’s addition, expecting his deep expertise in Chinese enterprises and financial markets will provide invaluable insights to the HKEX board and leverage the bourse’s unique role bridging China and global markets and advance our strategic objectives.

Zhang joined Alibaba in 2007 and stepped down as the chief executive and chairman of the Chinese tech giant in 2023.
