The Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education is Hong Kong’s only College focused solely on early childhood education(ECE). Established by the Yew Chung Education Foundation with its 90 years’ experience, the College offers recognized Bachelor’s Degree, Higher Diploma, and Diploma in ECE, and provides scholarships/awards to 90% of students.
Comprehensive professional training and diversified practice
The College’s Bachelor’s degree programme offers four specialised concentrations: “Special Educational Needs (SEN)”, “Infant and Toddler Education and Care (INTOD)”, “Innovation and New Literacies (INL)”, and “Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL)”.
The College arranges 8-16 week practicums for Bachelor’s and Higher Diploma students at various early childhood education institutions, including international and local kindergartens, as well as special education facilities. This helps students gain in-depth practical experience and skills.
Through the “Yew Chung Yew Wah Teachers of Tomorrow Scheme”, outstanding graduates can gain a one-year work opportunity at a Yew Chung or Yew Wah kindergarten. There, they work alongside an internationally-trained bilingual teaching team, strengthening their professional capabilities and laying a foundation for their future careers.
Four fully licensed professional qualifications recognised by the Education Bureau
Graduates of the Bachelor’s and Higher Diploma programmes are qualified to become “Registered Kindergarten Teachers” recognized by the Education Bureau. They can also obtain four professional qualifications from the Social Welfare Department: “Registered Child Care Worker”, “Registered Child Care Supervisor”, and “Qualified Special Child Care Worker”.
