The 401-kilometer line, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, will initially open seven stations, including Xinxing South, Yangchun East, and Zhanjiang North. It will run from Guangzhou Baiyun Station to Zhanjiang North Station.
Upon opening, the railway will operate up to 64 train pairs daily. The trip from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang will be compressed by approximately one hour compared to the current fastest route via Jiangmen.
The railway will link with the under construction Hezhou-Zhanjiang high-speed rail and the planned Zhanjiang-Haikou line at Zhanjiang North Station, significantly shortening travel times between the Northern Gulf urban cluster and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
