Taiwanese actor Darren Wang detained for attempted murder

Taiwanese actor Darren Wang Talu was arrested for attempted murder after he reportedly hired individuals to carry out a violent attack on a ride-hailing driver and a dispatch worker.

This incident marks another controversy for Wang, who was previously accused of faking a heart condition to evade mandatory military service.

He was granted bail for NT$150,000 (approximately HK$40,000) and is reportedly scheduled to fulfill his mandatory military service for one year in mid-March.

According to reports from Taiwanese news outlet TVBS, the assault occurred when Wang returned to Taiwan. Dissatisfied with the vehicle dispatched by the ride-hailing platform, Wang allegedly hired individuals to attack both the receptionist of the platform and the driver in a fit of rage.

The assault left both individuals severely injured and unconscious.

Wang is now facing serious legal repercussions for his actions. The police are currently investigating the case, and Wang could face the charges of attempted murder.

According to the Act of Military Service System in Taiwan, a man aged 18 starts his military service day on January 1 of the proceeding year and is discharged on December 31 of the year at the age of 36, called the Male’s Service Age.
