ImmD records 167,500 border crossings in the morning on final day of Easter holiday

The Immigration Department (ImmD) reported a total of 167,500 inbound and outbound passenger trips as of 10am on the last day of the Easter holiday, as some northbound residents concluded their travels.

The ImmD recorded more than 79,000 entries and over 88,000 exits. Over 115,500 passenger trips were processed through land border crossings, while the airport handled more than 42,000 trips.

Meanwhile, some northbound residents returned to Hong Kong on Sunday (Apr 20) to avoid the travel peak, noting that customs clearance was smooth with almost no waiting time.

However, some travelers from Shenzhen opt to come to Hong Kong on the last day of the four-day holiday, believing there would be fewer tourists during this period.

They also welcomed northbound travelers to spend in Shenzhen, though the crowds might cause some traffic congestion in the city.
