A teacher and a firefighter among six men charged with sexual offences involving a 14-year-old girl have been granted bail on Wednesday.
The six appeared in West Kowloon Court last week and were ordered to be remanded pending further police investigation. They were slapped with nine charges, including unlawful sex, buggery and possession of child pornography.
The defendants are: land executive officer Chan Ka-ming, 30; firefighter Tso Kit-ting, 28; teachers Tam Siu-chun, 25, and Man Ka-wing, 40; engineering intern Ng Kai-ching, 21; and YouTuber Wong Pak-hong, 25.
Tam and Tso’s bail applications were accepted by High Court judge Justice Judianna Barnes Wai-ling. Tam’s bail conditions included a cash bail of HK$25,000 and a surety of HK$25,000, while Tso’s were HK$150,000 and HK$50,000 respectively.
They were ordered not to leave Hong Kong and not to contact prosecution witnesses. They must also stay at their current address and report to a police station every day.
The defendants met the girl between May 3 and June 2, according to a charge sheet. Five of them allegedly had sex with her in three hotels in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung. Ng allegedly had intercourse with her at his home in Tsuen Wan’s Fuk Loi Estate.
The six are expected to return to court in mid-August.
It is illegal in Hong Kong to have sex with a girl under 16 years old.
