The woman arrested for allegedly firing about 10 shots at Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion on Sunday has a history of mental illness and had posted videos referencing the singer, police revealed Monday.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, has been charged with attempted murder and is being held on US$10.22 million (about HK$80 million) bail. The singer was home at the time of the incident, along with her fiancé A$AP Rocky and their three children. No one was injured. Rihanna was seen leaving Los Angeles on a private jet Monday afternoon.
Police confirmed Ortiz has a documented mental health history, having previously been involuntarily committed for 72-hour psychiatric observation. She subsequently lost custody of her 10-year-old child.
Ortiz had posted multiple videos about Rihanna on social media. In a January video, she stated: "Listen Rihanna, when you die God is taking me to my future... yeah, she wants to kill me. Shut the [expletive] up." On February 23, she posted another video using derogatory language and demanding Rihanna contact her.
Rihanna's mansion remains cordoned off by police as investigations continue.
