Tesla chief executive Elon Musk said Optimus humanoid robots "will begin to transform things in 2027, be obvious in 2028, and have a massive impact by 2029," in a comment responding to star stock picker Cathie Wood's forecast that the robots will revolutionize life as early as 2028.
Previously, Wood, the head of ARK Invest, said in an X post that humanoid robots are 200,000 times more complex than robotaxis to develop based on the company's research.
"Given Elon's first principle's approach and dogged determination, we project that Tesla's Optimus will begin to transform factory life, then home life, in 2028/2029," she added.
Last month, Musk plunged to convert its vehicle factory space into a robot-manufacturing plant, aiming to produce 1 million Optimus robots per year.
The new version Optimus 3 is expected to launch in the first quarter, marking the first mass production design of the company, which will commence production by the end of 2026, according to Tesla.
