The Global Cybersecurity Alliance (GCSA) and the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW) signed a cooperation agreement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, formally establishing a strategic partnership and jointly launching the AI Cybersecurity Research Center.
The Research Center will combine AETDEW’s leadership in engineering and technology with GCSA’s expertise in AI cybersecurity to create an international platform for research collaboration and capacity building. The two organizations will advance AI cybersecurity research, professional talent development, technology exchange, research commercialization, and international collaboration, while fostering cooperation among governments, industry, academia, research institutions, and international organizations.
H.E. Kabiné Komara, former Prime Minister of Guinea and Senior Advisor on International Finance and Security Governance, and Dr. Moneef R. Zou’bi, Academician of the New York Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Art and Science, delivered remarks on behalf of GCSA.
Academician Dato’ Ir. Dr. Lee Yee Cheong, Founding President of AETDEW and Senior Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, and Ir. Ts. Choo Kok Beng FASc, President of AETDEW and Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, attended the signing ceremony.
H.E. Kabiné Komara said: “Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the global digital landscape while creating new cybersecurity challenges. We look forward to the Research Center serving as a bridge for global collaboration, bringing together expertise from around the world, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, and building a trusted and resilient digital future.”
Dr. Moneef R. Zou’bi said: “Artificial intelligence is not only changing how we defend cyberspace, but also reshaping the nature of cyber threats, the foundations of digital trust, and the security of critical infrastructure. AETDEW and GCSA will work together to advance cutting-edge research, strengthen talent development, and accelerate the translation of research outcomes into practical applications.”
The two organizations will place particular emphasis on the practical needs of developing countries and emerging economies in their digital transformation, promoting the coordinated development of cybersecurity capabilities and digital infrastructure. Through knowledge sharing, applied research, and practical collaboration, the Research Center will support secure, trusted, and sustainable digital transformation.
This partnership marks the beginning of long-term collaboration between GCSA and AETDEW. Using the AI Cybersecurity Research Center as a platform, the two organizations will deepen the integration of engineering and technology expertise with cybersecurity capabilities and jointly address the evolving cybersecurity challenges of the AI era.
