Three relatives of an elderly couple killed in a suspected murder-suicide at Kwai Chung Estate identified their bodies at Fu Shan Public Mortuary on Tuesday morning.
Accompanied by detectives, three relatives of the deceased—two women and one man—arrived at the mortuary and left around 10am without speaking to reporters.
Police said the couple—an 80-year-old retired man surnamed Kwok and his 66-year-old wife surnamed Tsang—had been married for over 40 years. Though they had no prior police records of domestic violence or mental illness, their relationship was long strained, and they had recently discussed divorcing.
Kwok was found dead outside Chun Kwai House around 11.32pm on Sunday after falling from height. Officers entering their flat then discovered Tsang dead in the living room with severe head injuries.
Forensic tests suggest Tsang was struck with a hard object between 7pm and 11pm. Police recovered two bags of blood-stained clothing and bloody metal bars from a trash bin on the same floor.
Autopsies and forensic checks on the couple’s mobile phones are underway.
