A man was arrested on suspicion of drug offenses late Thursday after his car crashed into four vehicles, including a police car, during a frantic attempt to flee a traffic stop in Jordan.
Officers on patrol around 10pm noticed a black private car failing to stop at a give-way line while turning from Woosung Street onto Jordan Road. When police signaled for the driver to stop, he instead reversed wildly in an attempt to escape amid heavy traffic.
The vehicle collided with a police car, two private cars, and a red minibus in a chain-reaction crash that startled passers-by. The driver then abandoned the car and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by pursuing officers.
A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected drugs. The driver was detained at the scene for investigation. Traffic on Jordan Road towards Nga Cheung Road was temporarily affected. The case is being handled by the Yau Tsim district criminal investigation team.
