Man collapses after fleeing Jordan flat fire, roads closed

A man in his 60s collapsed and fell unconscious after escaping a fire at a high-rise flat in Jordan early on Thursday, police said.

Police received multiple reports around 4am of a fire at a high-floor unit at Glory Court on Jordan Road. Firefighters arrived and deployed one jet and one breathing apparatus team, using an aerial ladder to assist in the rescue.

The man escaped via the stairs but collapsed at ground level. He was given first aid and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Other residents were seen waving towels from windows, signalling for help.

Jordan Road towards West Kowloon Highway between Nathan Road and Gascoigne Road is fully closed. Several KMB bus routes have been diverted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
